Antique Sales Manager

Position: Permanent, Full Time

Main responsibilities (in order of priority):

  • ‘Front of house’ – first point of client contact in the showroom
  • Responding to sales enquiries (both telephone & online)
  • Generating new sales – actively contacting current and potential clients about new pieces that might be of interest to them
  • Working with our Visual Merchandiser to keep the showroom looking stylish, fresh and exciting
  • Working with our Warehouse Manager to maintain our antiques inventory and price list, including photo referencing, product descriptions, dimensions and locations (showroom & storage)
  • To build and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all stock
  • To research and write descriptions for online antique listings and press releases
  • Working with Christopher to set trade and retail prices for antique pieces
  • Working with the Financial Administrator to record the cost price of all antique pieces (including costing any works undertaken before a sale)
  • Ensuring that all antique stock is kept up to date on the website
  • Communicating all sales to the team and ensuring lists are updated and images are archived on the website and server

Other responsibilities:

  • Working with our in-house photographer ensure that all recent acquisitions are photographed
  • Arranging for the appropriate restoration of antique pieces as required
  • Staying abreast of the antiques world; monitoring and actively engaging with its emerging trends and understanding our position within the marketplace

Skills and qualities preferred:

  • Presentable, personable and motivated
  • A good interest in (and knowledge of) antiques and interiors
  • Copywriting experience
  • Confident negotiation skills
  • An ordered and organised mind-set, with excellent administration skills and a rigorous attention to detail
  • Computer literacy (Mac OS, Mail, Numbers, Pages and Microsoft Excel)

Essential:

  • Availability to work on Saturdays
