Emma’s birthday celebrations started upstairs with a punchy Negroni, whilst Amy, Ali and Hetty put the finishing touches to the table, adorned with perfectly pink peonies.

A simple starter of al dente asparagus, bought fresh from S. Thorogood & Sons at the Pimlico Road Farmer’s Market, who only attend the Farmer’s Market for the six weeks of asparagus harvest, their asparagus was deliciously fresh and crisp, covered in lashings of butter, salt and pepper.

Like a great feast, platters were passed from hand to hand as guests tucked into beautifully medium-rare Somerset beef from Langford Organic, a colourful tomato salad and herby, buttery new potatoes. If that wasn’t enough a¬†generous truckle of Keens Cheddar Cheese & crusty baguette from Sally Clarke made the rounds of the table.

Finally guests toasted the birthday host with a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ over a wicked chocolate and almond cake, with strawberries and coffee in matching pink WI cups and saucers.
