A Fine William IV Wardrobe in ‘Plum’ Mahogany

A fabulously architectural William IV wardrobe, in beautifully figured ‘plum’ mahogany, the Palladian pediment flanked by bold quarter-circular antefixae. The pair of panelled doors open to reveal a hanging space lined with the original box pleated beetled linen, produced by a water driven mill in Northern Ireland, the hanging rail with 19″ of depth to accommodate a modern hanger, accompanied by nine pegs. The cupboard is raised on elegant swept bracket feet, which surprisingly echo a non-conforming 18th Century style and are fully retained with no damage. The condition is truly exceptional including the notably dry inner surface of the fielded door panels, and gold lacquered bolts and locks. English, circa 1830
