C18th Grand Tour Model

A perfectly proportioned 18th Century Grand Tour model of a Palladian portico, the pointed pediment on four doric columns, enclosing a niche that or doorway opening with traces of later floral paper backing which may of been for displaying a vase or object. The precise architectural detail is interestingly opposed to the coarse grained pine structure and turned beech columns which have a very rough aged surface covered in a heavy bodied layer of paint, all untouched and intact with a few charming minor losses. A rare and intriguing piece, probably Italian, circa 1790
