French 1930s Oak Table Lamp
A playful little 1930s French table lamp, carved from one piece of solid oak, the spherical body having four carved arms extending to the lamp holder, raised on three ball feet. In perfect original condition, the oiled oak having a beautiful depth of colour and grain.
The style is typical of the Organic Design movement, pioneered by pioneered by Frank Lloyd Wright who believed in creating harmony between people and nature and regarded architecture as a means of achieving a perfect balance between the manmade and natural worlds. This belief was expressed by the use of natural materials and smooth rounded forms.
