George IV Rosewood Open Armchair

A characterful George IV rosewood library armchair having open scrolling arms with upholstered pads covered in a blue and red Persian carpet fragment, each with a flowerhead roundel embossed to the side, the tall curving back with a pronounced lumbar shape traditionally reupholstered along with the horse-hair squab seat cushion in antique olive/brown tarpaulin, the seat platform in antique linen dyed using walnuts. Raised on crisply fluted solid rosewood front legs and outswept square back legs terminating in very good quality original brass cup castors. The beautifully figured rosewood has faded to a honey coIour and the chair frame remains in perfect original condition. England, circa 1830
