Grecian Dining Chair
For purity, classical form, comfort and a discreet level of craftsmanship, the Grecian chair has to be my favourite. Favoured by the Regency architect and designer Thomas Hope, this ‘Klismos’ form takes inspiration from ancient Greek chairs, although we’ve only been producing it for 30 years!
Completely had crafted in oak with beech rails, the seat webbed and stuffed with horsehair and stitched into shape for hours to produce the crisp edge to the seat which will out last us all.
This example is available now in an ebonised stained oak, the seat upholstered in striped cotton ‘Gudrun’ from 36 Bourne Street.
