Sunny Striped Travelling Greyhound
Our sunny and surprisingly practical model of the Travelling Greyhound sofa, upholstered with deconstructed back and outside arms, the body in French striped canvas, the down cushion covered with a natural hairy hide.
A faithful late 18th century design which dismantles in the tradition of British campaign furniture, to make it both more interesting and practical. A series of loose tenon joints and finger bolts allow the arms to be removed and the back to lift off, making the settee easily transportable, accessible for even the tiniest rooms at the top of a narrow staircase… or take it travelling! As before, the oak frame is traditionally hand-made and upholstered using hand-stitched horsehair and a pocketed down and feather cushion. Once the handmade bolts are secure, the clever, yet simple, traditional mechanics of the construction make it as stable as the fixed version of the Greyhound.
