Early C20th Grand Floral European Rug

A grand early 20th Century European rug decorated with natural floral motifs on a background of deep rust pink, featuring a strong blue border of intertwining leaves, stems and rosettes. A fine example of early machine knotting, the technology for which was developed in England at the start of the 20th century, and exported to German in the 1930’s, where this rug was produced. Some colour loss and broad patches of wear, but otherwise very decorative and in stable condition.
