C19th Slat Back Polychromed Elm and Beech Kitchen Windsor Armchair

A large and bold, polychromed elm and beech kitchen Windsor armchair, the broad, curved stay rail above a tall slatted lumbar-shaped back, having scrolling arms each supported via two mismatch spindle supports, above a shaped elm seat raised on heavy ring turned front and back legs and a double H-form elliptical stretcher. High Wycombe, circa 1840-1880, retaining the most incredible build up of old worn layers of dark paint.
