Bronze Bust of a Chinese Woman by Dora Gordine

A bronze bust of a Chinese woman looking down, on a stepped wooden ebonised plinth base, unsigned.

The bust appears to be a slight variant of the edition of eight ‘Chinese Head/Kwa Nin’ (Chinese Lady of Peace) produced by Gordine in 1930-1931, and shown in J.Black and B.Martin, Dora Gordine, Sculptor, Artist, Designer, London, 2007, p.228, fig.14, this example having a longer neck giving the face its downward stare.

This bust is not one of the edition of 8 and is likely to be a maquette, the seams visible.
