Last week we remembered how much we love autumn as we prepared to our first lunch party in the HOWE kitchen. Hosting for the lovely Plain English team in our collaborative kitchen, as well as special clients Chester Jones and Sabri, we made the most of the tail end of our garden’s produce.

Using up green tomatoes, Ali made a lightly spiced chutney, served with creamy goats cheese and Max created a zesty smoked mackerel pâté, both served on our favourite Poilâne bread. For the main we had roast chicken from Provenance and a rich aubergine parmigiana, served with vibrant Peruvian potatoes and autumnal squash from the market, as well as an abundance of #madebyhowe Jerusalem artichokes.

For pudding, we were treated to Amy’s apple pie, possibly the most delicious pie any of us had ever tasted. Buttery pastry, local apples straight from the tree and lots of pouring cream – everyone found that little extra space to fit it in!

Much to the delight of the ravenous staff, we ‘accidentally’ made way too much and having been subjected to aroma-based torture during the preparations, took two days to polish off the rest!

Watch this space for the next #howehosts…
