SPRING LUNCH

After a brief hiatus without event activities, we jumped straight back into it with a bountiful spring lunch for 32, for no reason other than to celebrate the company of friends and our fantastic Plain English x HOWE kitchen. Amidst the buzz of RHS Chelsea Flower Show 💐 we transformed the showroom into a fresh and floral orangerie, drawing on our large stock of antique garden furniture, bright textiles and some pretty #madebyhowe cushions. Sipping on a cold glass of wine and munching on smoked trout pâté rye toasts, guests basked in the glorious early afternoon sunshine and mingled amongst friends old and new.

Hosts Merlin Wright (of Plain English) and Christopher then lead guests down to the kitchen, filled to maximum capacity with trestle tables and stacking chairs, the tops laden with aromatic herbs and Hetty’s delicious feast.

 

All cooked and prepared that morning in our #plainenglishxhowe kitchen each plate was set with a slice of creamy Pea, Mint and Goats Cheese tart, with all the dishes of salads shared across the table, each a different taste sensation. Fresh – New potatoes, green beans and salsa verde. Sweet – Grilled cauliflower, pomegranate and hazelnut salad. Bitter – Kale, grapefruit and fennel salad. With endless refills it was hard to stop!

    

But stop guests did, and just in time for desert. A light and fragrant Apricot and Caradmon Polenta Cake served with mascarpone and fresh strawberries. An indulgent end to a light and joyful lunch, we wish our guests could have stayed all afternoon.
