







1930s Side Table With Black Marble Top
A 1930s side or centre table, commissioned originally by a wealthy family in Delhi but later owned by the eminent British artist Howard Hodgkin who had an eye for discovering furniture of exceptional design and quality during his annual residencies in India.
The impressive rectangular black fossil marble top with rounded edges and radius corners supported on teak wood framed base with bold turned and tapered splayed legs terminating in interesting ball cup castors stamped with makers label “BROUND”. In good original condition, missing one steel collar. Indian, circa 1930
