C19th Carved Oak Church Chair
A magnificent quarter-sawn oak church armchair in the Norman style, being of bold proportions to accommodate a high Clergyman’s vestments, the deep curved top rail with moulded and reeded edges and centred by a carved oval floral patera, the back braced by a broad reeded mid rail, flanked by swooping reeded arms, each resting on row of three short spindles, over a fabulously wide scooped seat, raised on bold legs each applied with octagonal columns on a pedestal base/foot, the back legs with a subtle splay, united by plain H stretchers. The original untouched, oxidised oak with an appealing grey hue.
