C20th Anatolian Prayer Rug

A charming Turkish prayer rug of knotted wool on cotton in a palette of reds, blues and yellows on a cream ground, the field having a multiplicity of tiny trefoil almost heart-shaped motifs centred by an outline of a large mihrab formed from alternating red and blue flowers on a darker cream ground and finished with a Tamerlane Helmet, framed by a geometric border on a red ground and a narrow outer border of tiny trefoils.
