C20th Swedish Handmade Rag Rug

A handwoven striped Swedish rag rug, the pastel blue and cream stripes alternating with a detailed geometric pattern of pinks and greens, complete with a handmade tassel fringe at each end. In good condition, with some fading to one end, the darker end indicating where a piece of furniture might have been placed. Sweden, circa 1960.

Rag rugs were, and still are, traditionally woven in Sweden using floor looms, and make use of recycled household textiles such as clothing and bed linen. Good condition with some minor fading to colour.
