Comb-Back Windsor Chair
Our own form of the ‘Comb Back’ Windsor Chair, traditionally made by our dedicated Windsor chair maker from English ash.
The Windsor is one of the most archetypal of English vernacular chairs. It was made in components, namely ‘spindles’ and ‘bows’, which were turned and steam bent by the ‘Bodgers’ who lived and worked in the woods, managing and coppicing the trees. The parts were supplied to workshops in the nearby town who assembled the chair and added the seat.
Our blackened Comb Back Windsor is beautifully timeless, sitting as comfortably in an English farmhouse as it does in a more contemporary or sophisticated setting, such as theTwelve Interiors’ fantastic Rio Palena Lodge in remote Patagonia, or styled by Little Greene to compliment their ‘Stag Trail Sky’ (both pictured).
Made in England as part of our Howe Home collection; the essentials, ready to go, no compromise to quality, no less a commitment to traditional craftsmanship, only more efficient production techniques.
