George III Tripod Table

A bold and fine early George III tripod table in East Indies Mahogany, the circular tip-top secured with the original banjo catch on a fluted and ring turned gun-barrel stem with a gadrooned lower collar, rising from an accentuated tripod base, the knees with relief acanthus carving and a rocaille underscroll, the club feet raised on leather barrel castors. One old repair to the leg with steel reinforcement bracket to one leg, otherwise in wonderful original condition and of exceptionally good colour, English, c.1755.
