Large 1960s Stoneware Tablet Lamp
A large 1960s Studio Pottery stoneware table lamp most likely by Alan Wallwork (1931-2019) who shared a studio in Greenwich, London with fellow potter Bernard Rooke between 1960-1965, both of whom were part of a group of Post War avant-garde artists who opened up a new aesthetic and technical possibilities in ceramics. The solid rectangular form handmade by coiling, slabbing and shaping the clay, with rough textured surface and irregular glazed decoration, having impressed totemic and incised decoration. Unsigned.
