Set of 6 1950s Postwar Barstools
The tubular steel tapering legs united by a brass hoop and terminating in brass with the original pivoting pads, the white vinyl upholstery is miraculously well preserved and supported on not a timber, but a steel frame, the construction being the result of austerity moves after the War, which restricted the use of scarce materials such as wood, in favour of methods and materials in continuous use by wartime factories. These stools are rare and remarkable in the sense that the methods of manufacture could never be reproduced economically today.
