Checker-Board Bobbin Leg Stool
A particularly special Bobbin Leg Stool, covered in antique Swedish sun faded red and grey checker-board wool fabric, which would have been woven on a narrow width loom and has been panelled down the middle and strengthened with an intentionally broad band of hand-stitching in linen thread. The base is covered in well matched tomato red linen, finished with Natural Maroc goatskin leather corners in ‘Slate’ from Howe @ 36 Bourne Street.
The cushion is a proper stuffed and stitched horsehair squab, rarely found these days due to the time and skill required to make one, but this will in turn last a lifetime (or two), fixed all the way through from the top, creating the impression of float buttons, to the base with barbours twine that hangs loose underneath.
AVAILABLE NOW with crisply turned bobbin legs in oak, at the retail price of £6,000 inc vat, inc fabric.
