Gainsborough Carver Armchair
Stylistically very versatile, the Gainsborough Carver is so-named for it’s plain but precisely executed square legged base. A respectful rendition with great character and a high back, making a classic and timeless addition to any dining room or grand office space with its supportive padded arms. Incredibly comfortable, the original Gainsborough design is thought to be named after British portraitist Thomas Gainsborough, allowing his sitters a touch of indulgence when posing for long durations.
Traditionally hand made in one of our specialist British workshops, constructed in mahogany or oak with a sprung base. The base, back and arms are upholstered using hand-stitched horsehair, and covered in your choice of fabric.
The Gainsborough Carver Chair comes in a straight or serpentine back. Also available without arms, see our Gainsborough Chair and Stool.
