














Pair of Regency Painted Armchairs
A pretty pair of flaxen painted Hepplewhite open armchairs with shield-backs, the top arched rail decorated with trailing ivy above neo-classical green painted garlands, centred with a bold painted flower on a dark ground flanked by carved and painted swags and tails, set between shaped and swept arms decorated with husking and terminating in turned roundels, both here and at the top of the leg, framing an original caned seat with custom horsehair squabs covered with Squiggle ‘oyster’ from our sister shop 36 Bourne Street, the serpentine seat rail painted with an attractive floral and ribbon panel, raised on square tapered front legs also decorated with husking and terminating in spade feet, while out-swept back legs are simply outlined in dark brown stringing.
