Balloon Back Chair
The balloon shaped back was very fashionable in the late 18th century, inspired by the first hot air balloon to fly over Paris in 1783 designed by the Montgolfier brothers. This neatly proportioned George III design from the Gainsborough period is hand crafted in beech, set on plain square legs in mahogany, oak or hand painted in a colour of your choice. Traditionally upholstered with a webbed and hand-stitched horse hair seat and back, creating an exceptionally slim and particularly comfortable seat.
