L-Shaped Greyhound Settee
A modular, L-shaped version of our classic Greyhound settee, making it the perfect choice to suit the corner of the room – practical, informal and exceptionally social and comfortable.
Our Greyhound settee earns its name from its 18th Century elegance and sleek frame. Constructed from beech the sofa has spoke shaved pitch pine arms and typically stands on oak or mahogany legs terminating in brass cup castors. The squab style seat cushion can be stuffed with either horsehair or pocketed down and feather and is supported on a webbed platform that we have supplemented with short springs to add softness to the seat. Our frame maker pays every respect to the use of pegged ‘mortise & tenon’ joints and ‘dovetailed’ stretchers to achieve remarkable strength in such a slender, lightweight frame, true to its canine name and the essence of 18th Century English furniture.
“As well as the evident level of hand built craftsmanship and use of authentic natural materials, the Greyhound is not only incredibly sleek and stylish but surprisingly comfortable for an 18th Century settee” CH
Made to order in your desired length. You may also wish to consider the Travelling Greyhound, which can be dismantled making the settee easily and economically transportable, and accessible for even the smallest staircase.
