Tamburlaine Sofa

Deep as ever but with a taller back, finer arms and longer legs, the New Tamburlaine Sofa is completely hand-crafted, utilising the strength of beech for the frame, with spoke shaved pitch pine arms on oak or mahogany legs, with or without brass cup castors. The squab style seat cushion can be stuffed with either horsehair or pocketed down and feather and is supported on a webbed platform that we have supplemented with short springs to add softness to the seat. Our frame maker pays every respect to the use of pegged ‘mortise & tenon’ joints and ‘dovetailed’ stretchers to achieve remarkable strength in such a slender, lightweight frame, true to the tradition 18th Century English furniture.
